Research

Industrial ecology research at the University of California–Davis is multi-disciplinary, bridging between fields such as human ecology, health science, mechanical & green engineering, civil & environmental engineering, transportation policy, and the food, energy, and water nexus.

The main thrusts of industrial ecology research at UC Davis include characterization and optimization of linked water, energy, and food systems; engineering of sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing processes; development of methodologies to advance industrial ecology research; and investigation of economic, socio-political, and ecological systems through field research, modeling, mapping, and prototyping.
